What about a site structure change?

While I enjoy the structure of the site and the direction that it is pointed now I would like to open the floor to ideas. These ideas are in no way going to be taken and acted on but I am VERY open to suggestion and discussion.

To start here is what I am thinking. Right now the focus of the board is more toward new fathers as you can see by the playgrounds and sandboxes. By the looks of the site and the members that we currently have I think a direction more towards fathers with kids already then expecting fathers. I would be shrinking the Sandboxes down to just general expecting fathers category and expanding in other parenting or father issues or discussions.

I would propose adding sections for Geek Speak, Hobbies, Spiritual Support, Networking, Trade/Buy/Sell, Vendor/Products, and other topics.

I think this is a period for JustDaddys where we can mutate and change to create the best resource online for fathers of all types.

Please discuss your thoughts openly. Like I said I am up to any discussion or idea. Thank you in advance.

I agree with tweaking the focus a bit from expecting dads to exisiting dads but not solely of course. I wanted to start a discussion about colic and reflux that I am experiencing with our 2 month old daughter for advice from others but do not know really where to start it.

a topic important to me are father issues like coping with the responsibilities of being so many things compared to how our fathers were. how and why being a father lost its true meaning somewhere in the industrial revolution and how we get our true identity back as an integral part of the family structure instead of just being the financial provider. I own a business but I am also very involved in raising my children. I would say it's 50/50 as far as household responsibilities. I would like to discuss this with others and try to get a better sense of how to approach these challenges we face in this day and age.

Just checking to see how everyone is feeling about JustDaddys?

My goals with this website are to have a fun and enjoyable place for fathers to come and discuss parenting issues, father issues, or just chat it up with friends. Its been great to see the additions to the site and all the conversations that have taken place since its creation back in May. I hope everyone still feels excited about JustDaddys and continues to return and roll with the conversations. With that beings said here is my challenge to you.

I would like everyone to suggest one (1) thing that you would change about JustDaddys.Net? It can be anything from change the font, to take down the site I hate it. I am open to all and any criticism and want to build this to be a successful resource for other new and veteran fathers out there.

I think members need to start talking about stuff. I have started several topics and you are the one and only major contributor. I think all in all people drop in read some things and check out without contributing. That has been my approach lately because I have been short for time and have seen nothing interesting to talk about.

I have noticed this as well. I have seen that traffic is pretty consistent and the numbers follow a pattern over the last couple weeks. However the last weeks the posts have dropped tremendously and little "action" on the site has taken place.

I have been trying to start some interesting commentary and other topics but as you know its hard to get things going when its only two people. I think its only a matter of time till things take off and we start getting a little conversation. People coming and reading and only adding when they feel fit to is OK with me. On other forums it takes me a while to get "buttered" up to the people on the site before I really start to post too much.

Thanks for your input. If there is ever anything you would like to see happen let me know.

I am hanging in there. At times I get depressed that it has not picked up faster then it has but then I know that its only a reflection of how much time I have put into it. I have been ultra super busy with the baby and now that it is slowing down I should be able to devote more time. I am glad that you are still around and look forward to more friendship as time goes one. Thanks for the support from everyone on JustDaddys
