What were thoughts on last weeks debates? Did any of it change your mind? Do you think debates are a good way to "advertise" the candidates? Are debates going by the wayside due to other more modern media outlets?

Talk it up.

Since the debate didn't draw any "debate." How's the actual election going for you?

I'm watching the results, popping popcorn and having a beer while I watch.

We're witnessing an historic election no matter which way it goes.

Did you vote?

Although the election did not go the way I would want. My thoughts at this point are to just hope that things do in fact get better for the country over the next four. I am an American and I will stand behind what my country does. I have my reservations because my state (MD) has had a similar take over of democratic power and things have gone straight to the tubes since it happened. Hopefully this will not repeat itself on the national platform. Only time will tell.

I too voted McCain and I am not overly concerned with what Barak can do as a President, maybe he will do great things but people are acting like he is the second coming of Christ, unrealistic approach. It's a Democratic Congress that scares the living crap out of me. If anyone took the time to have an open mind and objectively research why we are in the economic turmoil we are in now it's mainly because of Congress' balance of power moving further towards the left. " We want all Americans to be able to own their own homes" Need I say more. Although I think Bush will go down as the poorest performing president of all time, he was an easy target all these years for democrats and they took every shot they could. I am a Republican through and through and I think if you read my comments I, like most rightees have a realistic outlook on the issues. I am very concerned for my business in which I own and employ almost 300 people and what the Govt. is now going to do as a socialisticly driven monster. Someone in another forum said " I have earned it but I cannot have it and they have not earned it nor contribute at all but they can do what they want with what I have earned? NO WAY! "

The fact that its democrats in power does not scare me as much as the fact that there is not the partisan checks and balances on either of the three government entities (President, House, Senate). The democrats can steam roll anything they wan through and there is NO ONE that can stop them, save the Supreme Court if its extremely illegal. This is a bad thing no matter who has the power, dems or reps. My state (MD) had one party control for many many years. We had a Rep Gov win and election in the previous term and all sorts of dirt, scandals, and other "wierd" things came to light that had taken place but no one noticed because there was not partisan checks and balances. Fast forward four years and hes up for reelection and looses (despite his 58% approval rating) to a Dem that did poorly as Baltimore's mayor, and was surrounded by corruption and scandals. The reason the Rep lost was the "I hate bush vote". I am not trying to discredit what Obama has done but I would be interested in this same election if Bush had a more "normal" approval rating (40-60%). I predict things would have went differently.

But, as mentioned before all of that is in the past and we have to move forward as a country. We can only hope that things do work out, he is in fact a great leader, and the country can pull out of this current situation.
